ICOPLAST aims to be of benefit to patients, plastic surgery and plastic surgeons. ICOPLAST belongs to plastic surgeons all around the world. To achieve our goal of the exchange of ideas and of acknowledging excellence in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery, ICOPLAST National Societies can apply to award an outstanding individual, within their society, the ICOPLAST Award of Excellence.

Award

There are two types of awards available:

  • Best Abstract from a Trainee or Fellow at the National Society’s meeting

  • Travel Stipend for Fellowships or Observerships at other institutions

500€ maximum award

The award is to recognize a trainee or plastic surgeon in a fellowship or within five years of training completion. The type of award, travel stipend or best abstract, is determined by the granting ICOPLAST National Society.

Award Distribution

To ensure that each region is adequately receiving an award in proportion to the number of surgeons within their respective membership the number of award distributions have been categorized into three distinct groups. The regions within each group have been based off the number of active members reported for the 2018 membership year.

Group 1

Regions each with less than 1000 members will each receive one award annually:

  • Africa

  • Oceania

  • Middle East

Group 2

Regions with more than 1000 but less than 5000 members will each receive two awards annually:

  • Central and South America

Group 3

Regions with more than 5000 members will each receive five awards per year:

  • Asia

  • North America

  • Europe
